Edward Lanphear--sexual deviate, kidnapper UPDATE

UPDATED Saturday, January 3, 2009
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) — A plea deal is in the works that could avoid a trial for the Saratoga man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting two young men chained at his home.

Wood County District Attorney Todd Wolf says he spoke Friday with the lawyer of 46-year-old Edward Lanphear and offered to settle the case without a trial.
But defense attorney Gary Kryshak says he's waiting for the results of Lanphear's psychological evaluations.

Lanphear is charged with 13 felonies in the abduction of a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old man in Wisconsin Rapids last summer.

He was arrested after one man escaped and ran to a neighbor's home.
A trial is scheduled June 1, 2009
