..
Christina Raines told CBS' "The Early Show" this month that her engagement to the 55-year-old former Bolingbrook police sergeant had been a publicity stunt.
.
Peterson and his attorney, Joel Brodsky, have insisted the couple's engagement was no hoax.
If their engagement was indeed real, Raines would be Peterson's sixth finance. He's been married four times.
.
His current wife, Stacy, disappeared at the age of 23 in October 2007, and Peterson is the sole suspect. His third wife, Kathleen Savio, was found dead in an empty bathtub in March 2004. Authorities now say that a second autopsy of the 40-year-old woman indicated her death was a homicide.
.Peterson declined to comment Tuesday.
.
Meanwhile, the Illinois Appellate Court upheld a lower court's ruling that the findings of the second autopsy were enough reason for Savio's estate to be reopened. Last year, a Will County judge replaced Peterson's uncle, James Carroll, as executor of the estate with Savio's father, Henry, and sister, Anna Doman. The ruling gives them the power to file a wrongful-death lawsuit against Peterson.
.
Brodsky said Peterson's legal team is "seriously considering" an appeal to the state Supreme Court. During Raines' interview on "The Early Show," she seemed unsure of herself, often quietly answering questions after long pauses. She said she knew Stacy Peterson, but when asked whether Drew Peterson had talked to her about his missing wife, she declined to answer.
Raines' father appeared on the show with her. She had been living with Peterson and her two children before moving out Jan. 30.
