An Orange County judge granted a continuance this morning in the Casey Anthony case. Her murder trial, which was set to begin in January, was postponed to March.
Circuit Judge Stan Strickland set the next status hearing for 9 a.m. Jan. 15 after Anthony's defense attorney, Jose Baez, requested a delay. The state did not object.
During Thursday's brief status hearing, Baez also brought up the issue about tips involving Anthony's missing daughter, Caylee Marie. The state says the little girl is dead, though Baez and the Anthony family insist the girl is alive.
Baez said he has been frustrated by the discovery process. Discovery is the information the state will use in its prosecution.
The attorney said he is in the process of getting tips about from the sheriff's office but if there is a problem he may ask the judge to intervene. Authorities say Caylee, who was reported missing in mid-July, is dead and her mother, Casey Anthony, had something to do with her death. Even though the child's body has not been found, Casey Anthony was indicted in October on a charge of first-degree murder.
